Conservationists are teaching young regent honeyeaters how to sing their distinctive song, critical for their mating success. Wildlife photographer Richard Shaw recently spotted one of these rare birds at Lake Cathie, where it was mimicking a little wattlebird's call. The species, with fewer than 300 individuals left, is endangered and shows signs of losing its unique cultural traits.
