Contractor discovers remains of "Baby Auckland" under Bishop Auckland floorboards
The remains of a baby boy, dubbed “Baby Auckland,” were discovered under the floorboards of a Bishop Auckland house by a contractor in July 2024. An inquest revealed that while the baby was wrapped in a 1910 newspaper, radiocarbon dating indicates he may have lived between 1726 and 1812. A funeral is scheduled for April 27 in Bishop Auckland.
