Creating AI deepfakes of real people to be made illegal in Queensland

Queensland announced plans to criminalize the creation of sexually explicit deepfake AI images without consent during a parliamentary session on Sunday. Attorney General Deb Frecklington stated that offenders could face up to three years in prison. The government will consult experts and aim to begin the legislative process midyear.
