PSOs removed from 119 railway stations, redeployed to crime hotspots

Victoria Police removed Protective Services Officers from 119 suburban train stations to enhance security at crime hotspots, effective Sunday. The initiative redistributes officers to patrol 32 high-risk stations during the day, responding to a 33 percent rise in violent offences since COVID restrictions ended. Assistant Commissioner Mick Hermans emphasized the need for flexibility in PSO deployment at busy times.
