NSW Police declared a critical incident after a man was found dead inside a unit in Merewether, Newcastle, on Tuesday. Emergency services had initially visited the property for a welfare check on Sunday after concerns were raised. A Critical Incident Team will lead the investigation, with oversight from the Professional Standards Command and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
