Cambodia unveils statue to honour famous landmine-sniffing rat

Cambodia unveiled a statue on Friday honoring Magawa, a landmine-sniffing rat who cleared over 100 landmines during his career from 2016 to 2021. The statue in Siem Reap marks the International Day for Mine Awareness and highlights the ongoing risk of landmines in Cambodia, where over a million people live on contaminated land. Magawa passed away in 2022.
