Amid fuel shock, train use hits all-time high in south-east Queensland

Train usage in south-east Queensland reached an all-time high last week, with over 1.25 million journeys recorded. Queensland Rail chief executive Kat Stapleton attributed the 14 percent increase to permanent 50 cent fares and rising fuel costs. Public transport overall saw a 7.4 percent boost, reflecting the growing trend of commuters opting for alternative transportation.
