Western Australia ranks fourth in combating illegal tobacco trade
Western Australia ranked fourth in tackling illegal tobacco, lagging behind Queensland and others, an Australian Council on Smoking and Health report found. Recent amendments to the Tobacco Products Control Act raised penalties and expanded inspection powers, but only come into force later this year. Chief executive Laura Hunter stated WA must enhance enforcement to curb the illegal tobacco trade.
