Decades in the making, Australia's newest airport has an opening date Sydney's second airport is due to open in a few months' time, with the concept first suggested nearly 90 years ago. Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) will open to the public on Sunday 25 October. Flights to and from WSI will increase the overall air traffic for Sydney.
