Stubborn, loveable: The famous racehorse being treated for melanomas

Chautauqua, the retired racehorse famous for refusing to start races, is receiving treatment for melanomas at Living Legends retirement farm near Melbourne. The 15-year-old grey gelding had surgery removing 10 tumors in September and now receives targeted chemotherapy and a new equine vaccine costing 3000 dollars. The prognosis is excellent, as equine melanomas rarely spread.
