Sydney’s childfree suburbs? The downside of property boom

In the 2024-25 financial year, Sydney saw 33,282 residents depart, primarily from its affluent eastern suburbs, driven by high housing costs. Meanwhile, births have fallen by over 20 percent in those areas, contrasting with growth in western suburbs. Despite a population rise of 75,000 from immigration, growth remains sluggish, marking Sydney's slowest increase since the pandemic.
