'Extremely rare': April comets may put on a show for sky watchers
2 days ago
Two comets, C/2026 A1 MAPS and C/2025 R3 PanSTARRS, may grace Australian skies this April. A1 MAPS may be visible from April 7 if it survives its close pass to the Sun. Amateur astronomer Michael Mattiazzo estimates its survival odds at less than 50 percent, but past comets have provided stunning views despite similar forecasts.
