Electric vehicle sales surge 50 percent, account for 14.6 percent of market

Sales of electric vehicles surged 50 percent in March, with nearly one-in-seven cars sold being EVs. The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries reported that 14.6 percent of the 108,000 vehicles sold were electric, up from 11.8 percent in February. Despite this growth, large petrol and diesel SUVs maintained strong sales amid rising fuel prices.
