English councils expand swearing bans, restricting standing in groups too
One in five councils in England and Wales have banned swearing under public spaces protection orders, up from one in 20 in 2022, according to a Campaign for Freedom in Everyday Life report. The orders, intended to tackle antisocial behaviour, now restrict everyday activities including standing in groups and foraging.
