Herald photographer Edwina Pickles wins award for Bondi Beach massacre image

Herald photographer Edwina Pickles won the Asia-Pacific and Oceania section of the World Press Photo contest for her powerful image of the Bondi Beach massacre, captured on December 14. The attack left 15 dead and more than 40 injured, as gunman Sajid Akram opened fire on the Jewish community. Pickles expressed her desire for the tragic event to be remembered.
