Rice’s whales predate modern humans. Now Trump could make them extinct

The Trump administration eliminated protections for Rice's whales on Tuesday, jeopardizing the existence of the endangered species, of which only about 50 remain. The decision, made by a six-member panel dubbed the 'God Squad', is the first application of 'national security' to exempt oil and gas industries from endangered species laws since the 1973 Endangered Species.
