Fake job scams that may involve crimes target young people

Young job seekers in Australia are increasingly targeted by fake job scams, with reported incidents more than doubling among those aged 24 and under in 2025. Scamwatch reported 837 cases last year, significantly up from 361 in 2024, leading to losses of $19 million. Experts warn that these scams are often run by organized crime networks.
